Hello Everyone,
First of all, I'd like to wish everyone a happy holiday season. In celebration of this, I will be looking at two films set in the holidays. I am referring to "Elf" and "Die Hard." As usual I'd like to give a shoutout to the Free Gamer's Alliance YouTube channel. Their videos cover everything from walkthroughs, glitches, easter eggs, and various amusing video game related content, all of which is delivered with some colorful commentary while they have buckets of fun doing it. The Good:
The Bad:
The Verdict:
This is a good enough film to watch for the holiday season if you enjoy Will Ferrell, if not, I'd recommend staying away from this one.
Next up, let's talk about a more unorthodox "holiday film" that dates back to a time when Bruce Willis had hair. I am, of course, referring to "Die Hard." For those of you unfamiliar with it, here is the trailer:
- This movie has a lot of heart. What I mean by that is by the end of the movie, the viewer will most likely be rooting for these characters. As a result, one will easily be in the holiday spirit after watching these movies.
- The holiday theme is very well done. Normally I would not be thrilled with the heavy handedness of a theme but for some reason, I feel very different about holiday movies.
- The costumes in the movie were very well done. I especially enjoyed the ones in the north pole scenes.
The Bad:
- This movie got off to an incredibly slow start. If you can get through the first half of this thing, I commend you. Once that is over, the movie starts to pick up and I found myself much more engaged in both the story and the characters.
- I can see where people find the humor in this movie, but as far as my viewing experience went, I did not find myself laughing very much. It may have something to do with the fact that I never have found Will Ferrell to be particularly funny but if you enjoy his humor, you probably won't have the same issue that I did.
The Verdict:
This is a good enough film to watch for the holiday season if you enjoy Will Ferrell, if not, I'd recommend staying away from this one.

The Verdict:
This movie is a fun time and I would recommend it for anyone looking for an alternative to the traditional holiday movie.
Thanks for reading everyone!! Happy Holidays!! :D
- As usual, Bruce Willis brings a certain amount of "badassness" to the movie. It's always exciting to see such a likeable actor take down bad guys.
- Speaking of which, the action scenes will provide action fans with a ton of thrills.
- This movie will keep you at the edge of your seat. The amount of suspense really adds to the experience. It's a shame that many action movies nowadays don't do this.
- Alan Rickman was incredible as the villain. He managed to be terrifying without going over the top.
The Bad:
- For better or for worse, this movie could not be more cheesy at times with some truly awful one-liners. But I might argue that this can actually make the movie more fun.
The Verdict:
This movie is a fun time and I would recommend it for anyone looking for an alternative to the traditional holiday movie.
