Today I have two different movies to review. "The Lego Batman Movie" which is a spinoff of the popular 2014 hit "The Lego Movie" and "John Wick: Chapter 2" which is the sequel to the surprise action thriller hit "John Wick." Before I get started, I'd like to give a shoutout to the Free Gamer's Alliance YouTube channel. Their videos cover everything from walkthroughs, glitches, easter eggs, and various amusing video game related content, all of which is delivered with some colorful commentary while they have buckets of fun doing it. Lets start with "John Wick: Chapter 2." Here is the trailer:
- Keanu Reeves really does make the perfect action star. These are the kind of movie he should be doing.
- The action scenes are absolutely insane. They will have you at the edge of your seat as they will overwhelm you with awesomeness.
- The soundtrack is awesome
- There are some truly hilarious moments that will have you laughing out loud.
- Finally, this movie doesn't take itself seriously which is it's biggest strength. It is clearly aware that it is supposed to be good popcorn fun and it is just that.
There are a few scenes between the action that tend to drag on longer than they should.
The Verdict:
"John Wick 2" takes everything that worked about the first movie and really doubles down on it. This movie is the definition of a cinematic treat. I 100% recommend seeing this in theaters.
Time to move on to "The Lego Batman Movie." Here is the trailer:
- The voice acting is incredible. Will Arnett made an awesome Batman as usual and the rest of the cast was on point.
- As is the case with "The Lego Movie," The animation here is really great. It manages to be even smoother than before.
- There are some great action scenes in this.
- There are some great moments with a lot of heart that will make the audience feel a wide range of emotions.
- This movie is laugh out loud funny. There are some really well timed jokes and some fantastic references to previous Batman movie.
- The resolution to the plot of this movie feels a little too convenient. It isn't a huge deal but it does feel somewhat cheap.
The Verdict:
"The Lego Batman Movie" is a well animated and hilarious movie. I actually think I liked it slightly better than "The Lego Movie." I would absolutely recommend seeing this in theaters.
