I have two very different movies to review today. I will be reviewing "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" which is a spinoff of the much beloved "Harry Potter" franchise. I will also be reviewing "Arrival" which is a sci-fi thriller from acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve. Before I get started, I'd like to give a shoutout to the Free Gamer's Alliance YouTube channel. Their videos cover everything from walkthroughs, glitches, easter eggs, and various amusing video game related content, all of which is delivered with some colorful commentary while they have buckets of fun doing it. Lets start with "Arrival." Here is the trailer:
- The cast is absolutely incredible in this movie. However, Amy Adams easily steals the show here. She plays her character with such authenticity and likeability that it is easy for the audience to be invested in her story.
- This movie is very well paced. This is really impressive as there is not a lot in the way of action scenes.
- The soundtrack is incredible.
- This movie explores some very interesting and thought provoking themes surrounding the use of language and it is very interesting to watch
- Finally, the end of this movie is done so well and will blow your mind a bit.
- I've got nothing
"Arrival" is an incredible sci-fi movie that is both smart and thrilling at the same time. It is easily one of the best movies that I have seen this year and I absolutely recommend seeing it in theaters.
Finally let us move on to "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Here is the trailer:
- The cast absolutely nails it. They all have great chemistry with each other.
- Visually, this movie is nothing short of stunning.
- There are some really great humorous moments that will have you laughing
- There are so many heart warming moments that will make you feel so good.
- The characters are written in such a way that it becomes very easy to be invested in them. What is brilliantly done is the way the characters interact with each other. It feels so authentic.
- The world this movie takes place in is so imaginative. It will leave you in awe throughout much of the film.
- This movie does have one major flaw and that is that the narrative is way to cluttered. There are so many plot lines going that many things feel somewhat undercooked. There are so many interesting things brought into play that would have been really interesting to explore that just kind of get left alone and it is a bit disappointing.
Despite an overstuffed narrative, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is an incredibly imaginative, fun, and heartwarming film. I couldn't help but leave the theater with a big smile on my face. I absolutely recommend seeing this in theaters.
Thanks for reading everyone! As usual, feel free to leave a comment but please be advised that if you are going to read any potential comments that spoilers may be present.
