Today I will be reviewing "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" which concludes this current trilogy of "Star Wars" movies. Before I get started, I'd like to give a shoutout to the Free Gamer's Alliance YouTube channel. Their videos cover everything from walkthroughs, glitches, easter eggs, and various amusing video game related content, all of which is delivered with some colorful commentary while they have buckets of fun doing it. It is time to get started. Here is the trailer:
- Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver are once again phenomenal in this movie. Those two both manage to play these roles with authenticity and it makes it really easy to get attached to them. Also Ian McDiarmid is fantastic in his return to the franchise.
- Visually, this movie is stunning. All of the special effects are fantastic.
- Carrie Fisher is in this film and her character is handled really well. When it was announced that she was going to be in this with unused footage, I wasn't sure if it was going to work but it does and it is a wonderful final performance from her.
- The action scenes are absolutely thrilling. This goes for lightsaber battles and battles between ships. They are all incredibly exciting to watch.
- The music is incredible as always.
- Finally, I feel like the most important aspect of a movie like this is the ending. This movie has a really strong and satisfying ending that I don't want to say too much about for spoiler reasons but I loved it.
- The first act of the movie is a bit all over the place in the sense that it ends up being one mission after the other and it feels like it lacks focus.
- Also there are a few characters that I really wish had gotten more screen time as they were quite interesting and I think they could have been explored more.
"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" is cinematic comfort food at it's finest. It may be a little messy at times but it wraps up the saga in a satisfying way that I think most fans will enjoy. It is a spectacle that I absolutely recommend seeing in theaters on the biggest screen possible.
Thanks for reading everyone!! As usual, feel free to leave a comment but please be advised that if you read any potential comments that spoilers may be present.
